Chenai Gwandure's Film Photography
Jack Black Ambassador, Chenai Gwandure, is a Zimbabwean-born, South African-raised skateboarder and film photographer. He recently exhibited some of his photographs at the epic House of Vans event in Joburg and we thought it was a great opportunity to share his incredible work with the Jack Black community too.
Chenai vividly chronicles African skateboarding as a movement of resilience, identity, and empowerment. As co-founder of Skate Zimbabwe and an advocate for inclusivity in skate culture, he inspires and uplifts Africa’s youth and gender equality through the transformative power of skateboarding.
His journey spans the continent, from DIY skateboarding initiatives in Lagos to establishing Nigeria’s first concrete skatepark. Chenai's professional knowledge and passion for analogue photography allow him to capture the vibrant essence of skateboarding - celebrating movement, pride, and community while illuminating the continent’s dynamic spirit of self-expression.
You can following Chenai’s photography here and his skateboarding here. Cheers Chenai, thanks for sharing!
