What's one thing you've learnt about working in the beer industry that you wish more people knew?
Typically, or probably stereotypically, I think the assumption is that beer is a male domain- by men, for men. And my time at Jack Black has proved that nothing could be further from the truth- beer is made by everyone, for everyone.
The only “qualification for entry” is a steadfast commitment to consistently delivering beer of an exceptional quality- beer that is worthy of our consumers, and the moments they are sharing.

What excites you most about being a woman working in the science behind beer?
Working in the science behind beer, you come to find that beer itself is exciting. No beer is the same, and it can be unpredictable at times, which brings its own challenges and rewards, it's cool to see the developments in the industry and their real-life applications in real time. I learn new things every day, and it still excites me when I can take my knowledge from university and relate it to things here in the brewery as I learn more and more. I still have my "aha" moments, and that's what's exciting to me, I'll never stop learning when it comes to beer.

You're the backbone of our sales ambassador team. Can you tell us how your role helps connect the brewery to our customers?
Have you seen perceptions of women in beer change during your time in the industry?
It's been really positive to see more women coming into the industry over the last few years. Brewing and beer have traditionally been very male-dominated spaces, but as more women join the industry, there's a real sense of community. We share advice, learn from one another, and celebrate each other's wins, which has been incredibly encouraging.
Craft beer in South Africa is still a relatively young industry, only really gaining momentum over the last 15 to 20 years, so there's still so much opportunity for new people to shape where it goes next.
I definitely feel like there's room for more women to take up space in this field. The more diverse voices and perspectives we have, the stronger and more exciting the industry becomes, and it's been amazing to see that shift happening.
